We understand that getting a massage for the first time can be a bit daunting. That's why we've created this guide to walk you through what to expect during your first session at our trauma-informed practice.

Before Your Appointment

  • Schedule an appointment: You can schedule your appointment online.

  • Fill out the intake form: This will help me understand your individual needs and goals for your massage. Be sure to mention any areas of pain or discomfort you're experiencing, as well as any medical conditions you have.

  • Wear loose-fitting clothing: You can disrobe to your comfort level during the massage, and you'll be draped with a sheet throughout the session for total privacy and comfort.

What to Expect During Your Massage

  • Arrival: When you arrive for your appointment, please arrive 5-10 minutes early so we have time to talk.

  • Consultation: We'll take some time to discuss your goals for the massage, any areas of concern you have, and your medical history. This is also a great time to ask any questions you may have.

  • The Massage: During the massage, I will use a variety of techniques to target specific areas of tension and promote relaxation. All techniques and aspects will be adjusted to your comfort level. Communication is key throughout the session. Please don't hesitate to let me know if anything feels uncomfortable or if you'd like to change anything. You have total control at all times.

  • After the Massage: After your massage, you’ll have some time to relax and unwind.

Common Concerns Addressed

  • Discomfort: Massage should never be painful. If you experience any discomfort during the massage, be sure to let me know. I will adjust techniques or positioning to make sure you're comfortable.

  • Disrobing: You can disrobe to your comfort level during the massage. You will be draped with a sheet and blankets throughout the session, and only the area being massaged will be exposed.

  • Privacy: Your privacy and safety is paramount.
