FAQ

How should I prepare for my massage? If you can, leave enough time to arrive unhurriedly. Try not to arrive on a stomach that is empty nor a stomach that is overly full - you’ll want to feel comfortable lying down. Before your first appointment, I will email you a confidential intake and consent form. We will review it together right before your session. This documentation is required by law and is important to make sure you receive a safe, beneficial massage.
What style of massage will I receive? Your session will be designed for you. I am trained in a variety of techniques and disciplines, including swedish massage, myofascial release, shiatsu, thai massage, stretching techniques, neuromuscular massage, positional release, pain perception modulation and more! Your session will incorporate multiple styles and techniques based on your needs and preferences. Therapeutic massage is a collaborative process of choice where your experience, comfort and voice are paramount.
Postpartum? How soon can I receive a massage after giving birth? As long as you feel comfortable traveling to the studio, I'm prepared and eager to take care of you with a session appropriate for your current stage of recovery. We'll work together to find the most comfortable positioning with bolsters and blankets.
How should I expect to feel after my massage? My goal is for you to feel better than when you walked in. Some folks feel completely relaxed, others feel invigorated. Your nervous system is unique to you. Ideally, allow for some easy, quiet time after your massage. If you’re able, create some space away from work or other responsibilities. If that’s not possible, no problem - you will likely move through the rest of your day feeling peaceful and refreshed. You should not feel sore or hurt after a massage (that’s a total myth!). Massage should never be painful. On occasion, some people experience a normal, mild sore sensation. This isn’t dangerous and should dissipate within a day. If a sore sensation lasts beyond that, please let me know. I will modify my approach and we can avoid any discomfort.
